Product Description
Type B Button Head Self-Tappers Zinc Plated Sheet Metal & Electronics Phillips Drive Blunt Point
Reliable button head self-tapping screws with Type B blunt point for sheet metal & plastic. Phillips socket drive, zinc plated steel. No pre-drill needed. Ideal for enclosures, brackets & DIY. M3, M4, M5 sizes.
Achieve clean, low-profile fastening in sheet metal and plastic assemblies with our **Button Head Self-Tapping Screws featuring a Type B (Blunt) Point**. Designed for direct thread-forming into **pre-punched or pre-drilled holes in thin materials**, the blunt end with tapered starting threads ensures strong engagement without pushing material aside or deforming thin sheets. The **low-profile button head** provides a smooth, rounded finish, reducing snagging, while the **internal hex socket drive** allows for high torque application and tool accessibility in confined spaces. Zinc plating offers essential corrosion protection for indoor and general industrial use.

Primary Uses & Applications:
* Sheet metal fabrication (electrical enclosures, control boxes, brackets).
* Electronics assembly (PCB mounts, server racks, component brackets).
* Joining plastic housings & components (ABS, nylon, polycarbonate).
* HVAC ducting & equipment assembly.
* Automotive interior trim & accessory mounting.
* Machinery guards & covers.
* General DIY projects involving thin metal or plastic.
Surface Treatment/Finishes:
* **Zinc Plating (Yellow Chromate):** Standard finish offering good corrosion resistance for indoor and protected environments. Yellow color aids visibility.
* **Zinc Plating (Clear/White Chromate):** Alternative for a brighter, less visible finish. Slightly lower corrosion resistance than yellow.
* **Black Oxide:** Mild corrosion resistance and dark appearance for reduced glare.

How to Use:
1. **Prepare Hole:** **A pilot hole is REQUIRED.** Drill a hole slightly smaller than the screw's **minor diameter** (core diameter - approx. 70-85% of nominal shank diameter) in the top material. Hole size is critical for Type B performance.
2. **Align:** Position materials. Insert screw through the top material hole into the base material.
3. **Drive:** Insert the **correct size hex key** (Allen wrench) or hex bit into the socket. Apply firm pressure and drive the screw. The Type B blunt point will engage the hole edges and **cut clean mating threads** into the base material.
4. **Tighten:** Continue driving until the button head seats firmly against the top material surface. **Avoid over-tightening**, which can strip the formed threads, especially in plastic.
